Default 91 G8 keeps dying

My cart will run great right off the bat then when it starts to warm up it starts sputtering and barely run. If you stop and put it in reverse it fires right up then switch to forward and it starts for few seconds and starts sputtering again. If I stop completely for a few minutes it will hardly turn over. Checked battery and it's very good, air box tight, getting good fire to plug. On a side note it's been 97 degrees the past few days. Any ideas?

Air box is definitely tight? All straps are on it?

Have you checked spark at the moment it starts sputtering? Could be an igniter problem.

When it starts acting stupid have you messed with the choke to see if it makes any difference?

Try changing the spark plug first. NGK BPR5ES works best.

Have you did a compression test? Maybe losing compression when it warms up.

Try adjusting the valves, engine cold at TDC set both at .004 in. Sounds like you could have a valve problem once it's warm.

Also come on over to the Yamaha G8 club. We love to have new members and there is a lot of good reading in there as well as a lot of BS & shenanigans. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...post-1639.html

As odd as this sounds I had a similar problem with my G14.Drove me crazy. There was some kind of short in the reverse buzzer. Try unplugging it and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks guys for the replies. About 30 mins after posting this I found a wire that had come out of the connection plug. Stuck it back in and some electrical tape to hold it in and fired right up and been going strong.
