Default Re: G16 clocking secondary clutch

You go to next ramp, its 120 degrees or 1/3 turn of the secondary then into the ramps. If you change hole (B2/3/4) that changes the actual degrees to the ramp a little, that is what all the holes are for, and changes the preload pressure. So lower letter/numbers will be closer to the ramp when you preload and assemble it, higher will have to turn it a little more to get by the ramp. Generally more preload makes rpm higher at part throttle, maybe changes rpm a little at full throttle but not much. Your preload is more about how snappy and responsive it is, but if it revs all the time it takes more fuel and makes more noise, but its nicer on trails that way, to a point. IIRC it is lowest preload A1 then A2/3/4 and B1-4 and C1-4 is the highest range.

The umax has more static pressure also, that is length/strength of the spring with no preload. That affects low speed rpm more then it gets more normal at higher speeds. If it revs too much with a umax at low speeds no matter the preload, try a new stock spring. Springs lose their power over time and your original spring will not be as strong as a new one.

You will also see a lot more need for a umax if you have a lifted cart with 22 or more tires maybe even 20 atv tires. Also if you tow you will like it more. With a stock cart you have to haul loads to really need one (with 18 tires the gearing is already pretty low for normal use).
