Default I made a mistake, help me out

so i went to drain the oil on my yamaha g14 golf cart

i drain oil from under the cart, was about a quart or so

just watching a guy change the oil on his cart, and its not the plug i took out and drained.

The plug i removed was under the cart, about center.....it unscrewed out of the bottom of the cart, not the side of the motor like he has shown

Now, i left it to drain overnight, but what did i drain?

This clearly wasnt the oil drain plug, might have been gear oil?

If so, not a big deal because i want to change that also, but what did i drain?

Im starting to think this was not the engine oil drain

HELp!

The older Yamaha motor (g2- g14) had a 17mm bolt on bottom of motor. Not on the side. You are OK.

Its either the engine oil or rear end. If it was the center of the rear end then it was gear oil. center part of the cart, it was engine oil. did you check the dip stick? 1qt is the most that will come out of the engine. Only put 1qt in and no more than that.

this was center of the cart, directly below the motor, looked like it came out of a finned oil pan?

It was not towards the back of the cart at all.

I did check the dipstick, when the oil was draining i pulled out the dipstick, nothing was showing. I just put it back in and went to the house, left it sit overnight.

Ill verify again tonight, but it was a 17mm nut, center of the cart, right below the front clutch basically. It was on the bottom side of the motor, and about 1 quart drained out, give or take.

Is there any other oil drains in the center of a g14, underneath?

This would be the Service Manual. Very useful at times, but not necessary for normal maintenance.
