The splines in the side we took off we're ok. Not great (it's old). Still a grinding after we took them off, but we haven't taken the other half off yet. The man has the tools and he's still at work....so we'll continue. Y'all are great btw.

We've not taken the back half off yet. The man has the tools and he's at work. So maybe we haven't made it far enough yet. Y'all are great :)

It still grinds with the front part off, or am I supposed to be looking behind the bearing?

You might have a problem with your input shaft and motor coupling. Have you pulled the motor and looked at it yet?

And there weren't any metal flakes in the diff oil when you dropped the pan?

We haven't pulled the motor yet, just pulled the pan off. I wasn't there when he pulled the pan, hut I did see some metal flakes on the driver's side axle where it comes into the housing

It's been a while, but I thought I'd give an update. We put another rear end on the cart. Turns out the problem was the splines in the motor and the shaft were worn down. I'm guessing maybe because there were only 2 bolts holding it together. Anybody know if the shaft and coupler can be replaced, or should we just toss them both?
