Default 2010 txt tie rod removal

I’m trying to remove the outer tierod. I had it off when installing my lift and think maybe the nut iscross threaded. When I try to take it off, the whole “bolt” rotates. Have tried holding it with vice grips but it doesn’t stop from rotating. Is a cutting wheel my only option?

try whacking the tie rod end back into the taper with a mallet to secure it and the nut should come off fine.

Put a C clamp on it, to put pressure on the tie rod end. And push it back into the taper. Then it should stop spinning.

I had the same problem several years ago and that was when I finally broke down and bought an impact wrench. I was able to press it against a concrete block and get it off. You have got to somehow get the shoulders back into place. Good luck

Awesome. Thanks for the ideas. I’ll give them a shot tonight.

You can buy a small tie rod fork from Autozone for around $20.

Or like others said, do something to get the shoulder wedged back in the hole. Just remember, if you have to drive the tie rod end out after you remove the castle nut, put the castle nut back on atleast 2-3 threads so when you hit it with a hammer your don't mess up the threads.
