Default Re: Gas or Battery for my build?

not sure where you're located but i've got a gas DS for sale right now.

I've had both, and can see benefits to both electric and gas. Due to my situation, electric is difficult for me because electricity is not convenient to charge it in my shop. And nobody around me wants electric carts, regardless of how nice they are so I usually stick with gas ones.

But, an upgraded electric cart with basic upgrades (controller, solenoid, wires, motor) will (silently) blow the doors off a gas cart. The instant torque is hard to deny that it's fun. My last electric cart would spin 25" tires and run near 30mph...

just saying. at heart, i'm a gas guy because I like building engines. But, there's definitely down sides to both and up sides to both. I'd drive a couple carts of each before making a decision.

Just something to add, broken down electric carts are awesome. You can pick them up for a few hundred bucks. New batteries, and then motor/controller/solenoid/wires (all the stuff you'd want to upgrade anyway with an electric cart) and you'll have a cart that will absolutely RIP with basically a brand new running gear for around $2k. HArd to deny the value there. Most of the broken gas carts I see with blown up engines are usually $1k in decent shape. Less if the body is completely trashed... but the gas are cheaper to rebuild for parts price, just a lot more labor going into it.

just my .02
