2008 Precedent issues, mainly hesitation
So I've searched and found a lot of staff for what started out as a hesitation issue. Many other questions came up. Forgive me.
Where is this black box you all refer to? I think I may have some throttle issues but not sure it plays any part in my hesitation problems. Should I check that out? How do you know when you have the air/gas mixture set right. Keep hearing you can only adjust this a short distance. I actually broke my screw so I am replacing. How to know where to set it initially? Could that attribute to hesitation? Now back to my hesitation. Most times, not all, cart hesitates about 3 seconds before starting up and taking off. I have a new starter belt and all is tight. Sometimes, not all, if very quiet, I can hear a whine like a car battery and when the whine goes to the end, it will start. ( you know, the PAC man sound when you die) Wish I could do the sound for you. Lol. I put a new battery in it with a ton of CCA. Doesn't seem to help. Solenoid seems ok, not sure. |

The precedent has different set up than ds.. which , if I am can remember, has a black box. The precedent linkage is under the black cover, under the mat.

Re: 2008 Precedent issues, mainly hesitation
The whine is your stater belt slipping. Where did you buy the belt? If it's not a club car belt it's probably the wrong size and not making proper contact with the pulley on the starter generator.
You said you replaced the starter gen? What brand and where did you buy it? Aftermarket S/Gs are notoriously bad. Almost always an original starter generator can be repaired cheaper than buying a new one. The most common failure is the brushes wear out, and they're about $40 for brand new ones from Club Car and you can run it for another 10-15 years with no trouble. |
