Default Machined Clutch and Power Spring Installed- Now I have questions.

I sent my driven clutch off to CPP and had them machine it as well as install the power spring. I got the clutch put back on. I also installed a new fuel pump, a new OEM carb, severe duty belt, and sanded the clutch faces as well. The cart definitely seems to have a lot higher RPM when the clutch finally engages. It also sounds like it’s running at a higher RPM at all times. My speed on the top end hasn’t really suffered, but when it’s doing 21mph, the engine is noticeably louder and turning at that higher RPM. I have also noticed that the low end speed has changed. I can’t get the cart to go less than about 6 mph without the microswitch (or possibly solenoid?) disengaging, causing the cart to coast. When I try to give it a little more gas to attemp to go slow, it jerks the cart when the microswitch/solenoid engages and the clutch engages.

Now for my questions:

Is all of this normal behavior for a machined driven clutch with the power spring?

Does my throttle cable need to be adjusted?

Does it sound like the carb needs adjustment?

Any way to get that lower speed back (less than 6mph)?

No that's not normal. You should still have low speeds and non-jerky takeoffs. What year is your cart? I'm guessing that maybe you did something with the throttle linkage when you replaced your carb?

That’s great to hear that it’s not normal!

It’s a 2000.5

I didn’t adjust anything with the carb yet. A buddy did adjust the throttle cable coming out of the solenoid box prior to the installation, but it didn’t jerk or have the inability to drive a low speeds.

Any ideas on a fix? Throttle cable is original.

Put your cart in maintenance mode so you can run it in neutral and watch the clutches. Make sure they're opening up properly. To put it in maintenance mode you just flip the little yellow cam so that the micro switch is pushed up so it can run in neutral.

The clutches should be doing this. The cart in the video below has a different motor than yours but the same clutch setup:

I was hoping there was another fix besides that, but I’ll take it out if I have to. I just want the ability for under 6mph back and the jerkiness to go away.

The clutches appear to be operating normally.
