Default Battery Meter Yamaha

Looking for some help. I have a battery meter I'm installing on my 2016 YDRE AC Yamaha. I know how unreliable the meters are but I still want it.
My question is where to get the control voltage. The direction everywhere says to use the voltage on the back of the run switch. On my cart I have 5v on the run switch not the assumed 48v. I am sure I will cause a problem if I use the Key switch voltage.
I can not find any reference on how to use anything other than the key switch for control. Does any one have any experience in this area on this model cart.
Thanks

Ok Here's my plan so far. Tomorrow, I will connect the meter control to the switched side of the the start relay. It has the 48 volts and only comes on when the key is in run mode. I'm not sure if that is the best way , but I do think it will do what I want...Here goes nothing.
I'll let you know.

The meter is now working. I still think there is a better way to do this but I'll save it for another day.
Any ideas let me know. Thanks
