88 ezgo i think
Hello. I recently traded for what I think is an 88 EZGO 2 stroke. It is lifted with nice wheels and tires and has a back seat kit. It has turned out to be a handful to keep running.
It ran when we first got it although it was extremely rich and smoked quite a bit. We had it a week or two when it quite running while my son was driving it. I have a guy that works for me that used to work on motorcycles so he tore into it. He checked the fuel pump, compression, and cleaned the carb. Seemed to be pumping fuel and it had 100 cold. He eventually found one of the head bolts was missing a nut and it was sucking air. Put a new nut on it and tightened the others up and he had it running again. Still rich and smoking but at least running. He also rechecked the compression and now it has 105 - 110 warm. It ran for about 10 minutes then started fouling plugs. He took the carb apart again and found the needle had a ring wore in it. He sanded the groove out of the needle and it will actually run again but it is still flooding. My question is where can I buy just the needle and seat or a rebuild kit for the carb. We matched a pic of the carb on one of the sponsor sites to the one on my motor and it looks to be an 88. The cart has some clutch issues that need addressed also but I will save that for later. Sorry for the long post just wanted to give some insight on what has been done so far. thanks |

Re: 88 ezgo i think
I found this but all I need is the needle and seat.
http://www.lvssales.com/store/produc...cat=191&page=1 I found a complete carb for $100 on another site which seems like a more practical solution. Just dont want to spend the extra cash if I can buy a needle and seat for 15 or 20 bucks somewhere. |

Re: 88 ezgo i think
check under the glove box on the passenger side there should be a plate with the serial number and model number, it should have 2 number followed by a leter then 2 more numbers. that will have the model yearin it. 2 of those numbers will be the year. if it is a 1988 the carb will be a BV-24. here is a website where I found a new carb for about 83.00 http://bakerscartsupply.com/proddetail.asp?prod=17558. hope this helps
