Default Need help installing voltage reducer

I'm an idiot when it come to wiring, so someone please help! I have a '96 EZ GO TXT that I need to install a voltage reducer on. I need to connect two sets of headlights and tail lights. I cannot figure out which wires connect to what. I have included diagram printed on reducer and the wiring harnesses.

First verify converter voltage 48volts to 12, or 36 to 12. next check voltage at key switch.

Green wire to load ie lights.radio, ect positive.
Black = battery pack negative.
Red = Battery pack positive.
Yellow=positive from key switch or separate on/off sw

you need a sw on the yellow wire to kill power to the converter.

You need to cut those ends off and use crimp on connectors. You can go as simple or as complicated as you like with the carts 12v wiring.... here are 2 examples which show the basic wiring to use the reducer. Your system may vary.

ScottyB since you sell these, does the yellow switching lead work at all voltages 12 thru converter max, or only 36 or 48volts

Not sure I understand your question. You input 36-48v and put 12v out.

so the green wire will connect to the two "hot" wires coming from the light switches, leaving the fuses in place? If I connect the yellow wire to its own toggle switch, that will be only wire connected to the switch, correct?

I say two "hot" wires because the two sets of lights have separate switches.

The yellow wire switches on/off the 36v/48v power to the converter, once you lose power your 12v quits.
A green wire switch will turn on/off your 12v while the 36v/48v side is still on.

IF your Key switch only has 12 volts to it can it still activate the converter? OR don't any carts use 12 volts at the key on/off switch.

The yellow wire is shown with pack voltage switching for on/off. That is the only way I have ever connect them, so the answer to your question is IDK.

That's fine too you can use a separate switch to turn the converter on and off. Most people like the convenience of using the key switch power so the converter is automatically shut down when the key is off.... this is what I drew on the diagram.
