Looking at going from a gas to electric Ezgo
I have lifted 87 ezgo Marathon gas golf cart and looking at getting a electric ezgo cart lifted or not. What problems should I look for on the electric cart? Also does a electric cart have good torque to get up hills? 36volt or 48 volt? I know alot about gas golf cart but not much about electric ones. I use the cart for hunting and riding around the lake. So any advise would help.
Thanks |

Re: Looking at going from a gas to electric Ezgo
Burnt wires, corrosion around cables and a dirty cart would be visually what I would look out for. Also I would take a DVM and check each battery with it. Drive the cart then look for excessively hot areas on cables, FNR and motor.
Also I have said this many times on here. I got my cart as a non running freebie. If I had to do it over again I would go 48v from the start. I use it for hunting mostly and I have built up the 36v cart about as much as someone could. It does alright for the most part but I really would like more torque, without speed loss, and I am at the point only more volts will do that. |

The single most expensive thing in the cart is the battery pack. Batteries last 5 years. So if they are more than 2 yrs old or have not been kept charged up once a month you may be looking at cart that needs $600 worth of batteries

Price will be dependent on local market conditions.
Ask the seller if he always put it on a charger when he wasn't driving, or if he's one of the many people that believes that you have to run them down for a couple of days before charging. Newish batteries may not behave like new if they've been abused. |

If you plan on using the cart for hunting I am not sure that is the best color scheme. That price would be a tad high here but every area is different. Just check it out good and ask plenty of questions.

Price is ok for here in Michigan, as long as it has good batteries. Not a great deal however. You could build the same cart for less.
