It doesn't need to be grounded. It appears that the switch has been replaced with something else. OEM switch only has 2 wires. Put the cart in reverse, make sure that the switch has closed, and check the wires with a meter for continuity. 12v goes to one, and the other goes to the buzzer. The other buzzer wire goes to battery negative.

Well after further review. Switch is bad. I put power to one side, connected the ground and pushed The lever down. Guess what. No juice going through to the third wire. So instead of ordering a $60 switch that they want online from a golf cart place I searched for an omtron lever switch and found one for $2.50. Let you know when it comes in if it works. It's a sealed switch so should be the same I'll let you know when it comes in
