Dcs, time to upgrade?

Last year I picked up a 97 DCS with a lift and I think 23" tires.
Other than that completely stock. To tull around the campground and maybe some hunting
Knowing it needed batteries, I used 3-12v auto batts. Just to see
If the cart was in running order. All seemed fine. Last week I bought
6 New 6v batts. installed and charged them. Hopped on for a ride everything
Seemed to work fine. Road around the house for a while checked
Everything out, nothing out of the ordinary. Plugged back in to charger for the
Night. Yesterday, my girls wanted to ride it around the yard. After about a half an hour they said it wasn't wanting to go? I checked it and the control cover was very hot. Pulled the cover off and the A1 cable was the culprit. Insulation was coming off the wire and the control housing was starting to melt. After everything cooled down all seemed fine again.
I have #4 welding cable already to make new cables. A flip flop rear seat waiting to be installed. And future plans on 48v upgrade.
So should I just change to the #4 cables for now and see if that fixes the issue. Or will i still continue to have problems? Or is it time to shell out some $ and upgrade the controller and solenoid? If so
Should I go 400A or 500A. For future 48v. Not wanting to upgrade the motor at this point in time. Any thought would be greatly appericiated.

Immediately replace all 10 high current cables with 4Ga or heavier.

Running oversize tires with a stock controller is running on borrowed time.

Time to upgrade, especially if adding a rear seat.

Check the tire size, if it is 23" or taller, you'll need a 500A controller, if it is 22" or less, a 400A may suffice.

Have to do. Looks like a controller up grade for me. I'll call
Scotty @ Carts Unlimited. I'm thinking maybe the 500A.
