1983 Marathon block
I just picked up a gas powered, 1983 Marathon with the 2pg engine for my daughter and I to restore. It came with all it's major parts in boxes. It needs the top end rebuilt which I can do. The bigger issue is that the block is cracked from someone dropping it. Does anyone know if the block is aluminum or magnesium? I am hoping this is something that can be welded.
I have been searching around to find the manual for it but they are $70! Yikes!! I was thinking about buying a cheap one I found that is for a 89. The basic concepts should be similar? I guess 83 was an odd year setup-wise. The cart didn't cost anything so it is worth trial and error for a fun restoration project with my 10 year old. Thanks for any help. This forum has already been amazingly awesome! |

The block is aluminum so it can be welded. The 89 manual is totally different as those years had 4 strokes in them. Hope this helps.

I found a free manual PDF on line after a very long search. I am looking to see if I can find the file. If i do I will reply with link.
