How to measure toe in
I installed a lift kit on my '95 Medalist and need to check the toe-in. What is the correct way to measure the 1/8" inch? Thanks

Re: How to measure toe in
The way I do it is measure from mark on center of tire to mark on other side tire center. Roll cart to where marks are on other side of tires and measure. Front measurement shoud be 0-1/4" longer than the rear.

Re: How to measure toe in
If I understand things correctly then your going to have toe out if the front is 1/4" longer. For toe in don't you want the front to be 1/4" shorter so tires are just slightly pointed inward. I pick a point on the tread design on each tire and measure the front and then pick a point on the rear of the tire and measure the rear. I know the tread design isn't 100% true but it gets pretty close. Technically your supposed to measure from the inside of the rim where the bead is on both front and rear of tire to get accurate but thats hard to get a tape measure in there and be very accurate with it. I'm not expert by any means but thats how I did it for years when I was racing stock cars and a golf cart shouldn't be much different, just smaller application.

Thanks for the information. This should be fairly easy to check.

As far as your way of marking the tire, I agree! I've done vehicles that way for years with good results. Actually toe should be measured from the outside diameter of the tire, so changing tire size ( diameter ) will affect the toe in. I've seen many tires where the tread doesn't run true also! What you suggested will remove any error from a bent wheel or tire that wobbles! |
