Default F-N-R Cables Snapped. Longer Ones Needed?

I searched but couldnt find anything. I have a Lifted 93 Marathon, and yesterday my Reverse cable snapped. I have always noticed that the cables seemed to be really tight underneath and never really seemed to work correctly because I would have to hold the lever to whatever side until I felt it "lock" in when the cart started to move, then I could take my hand off.

Basically I am curious if I need different cables because of the lifted cart, maybe longer ones? Thanks!
