2010 charger

My 2010Precedent sits for 2 to 3 weeks sometimes before use. It takes 3hrs to charge,but was fully charged when I put it up. Is this normal? Can I leave the charger plugged in all the time? Batteries are2012 and test good.

Some discharge like that is normal. If you are only leaving it 2 - 3 weeks it should be ok to just fully charge it before leaving and then charge it before using it when you get back.

When we had our Florida home we would leave the cart unattended not connected to the charger for 2 to 3 months. When we returned we always had plenty of power left.

I have a friend with a winter home in Phoenix (a lot hotter I know) who would leave his cart unplugged for about 4 mos. at a time in his garage - and managed to kill his pack in just two years. As far as I know they weren't dry - they just got baked and self-discharged a lot.

Admittedly they were the (CC's worst-idea-ever) 12v batteries in a Precedent, but I personally think 3 mos. (if it stays fairly hot) is a bit too long to be without a maintenance charge of some sort.

This was in Hillsborough Co Fl. Didn't know it until my son told me but it has never been over 100 degrees there. Due to the gulf breeze.

You can unplug the cord from a fully charger pack, plug it back in and it will charge for two hours. This in my opinion is a defect with the charger. Because even with the charger running it is not charging the batteries. It is just gassing the batteries. It's why you have to add water every week. When my batteries finally die I'm going to include with the new batteries a DPI charger.
