82 ezgo will not run
I have an 82 ezgo that just quit running. I replaced the coil, igniter, plug, plug wire, rebuilt carb and fuel pump. Cylinder has 125 psi. I did close the gap on the plug and it ran for about 10 seconds. Now it just turns over and will not fire. The plug is wet so is am getting fuel. I even installed the HEI ignition system. I am getting pretty frustrated. From whT I have read, it is unlikely that the timing would slip. I just hate the thought of paying a mechanic to work on it.
I am at a loss. Not sure which direction to go next. |

About the only thing left is crankshaft seals.

What about the pulsar?

Re: 82 ezgo will not run
Let's establish a few things. You changed all of those ignition parts. Is it now getting spark?
You also rebuilt the fuel pump. What exactly did you do inside the pump? |

The fuel pump was replaced. What is a good test for the crank seals? As far as the pulsar coil, what I understand is, if it was bad I wouldn't be getting any spark. They either work or don't work.

Re: 82 ezgo will not run
There are no "good" tests for crankshaft seals, but there is a hit, or miss test. You can spray something flammable around the front and rear seals while cranking to see what happens. It may work, it may not.
I have also been thinking about removing the fuel pump, and blowing a few pounds of air into the pulse hole while carefully listening around the seals for leaks. Maybe even combining that with a stethoscope, or rubber tubing. I haven't tried that method yet, and it would have to be quiet around you. |

Re: 82 ezgo will not run
Thanks for the input. I have a couple more things to try. Is it possible to go out of time if I didn't mess with the timing?

Re: 82 ezgo will not run
You say it's an 82. Is it possible that you have points, and not a pulsar? If it has points, timing could be an issue.

Re: 82 ezgo will not run
Does it have spark when you lay the plug on the head and crank the motor?
