Default txt robin 295 no power up hill

engine rebuilt. valves adjusted to .005. has no power up hill. engine boggs and doesn't keep rpms. with cart in neutral it revs great and drive clutch closes and driven clutch opens. new belt. butterfly on carb opens to WOT. has me stumped. any ideas? also tried it without air filter and without muffler.

I'm no expert, but sounds a little like low compression. I know it's fresh built, but did you check the compression?

Valves are supposed to be .004 but that may not be the issue. As was stated, double check compression. Are you sure that when it attacks the hill the clutches are working as they should?

i agree with cowboy...I would take a look at your clutch. It sounds to me like the driven clutch may need a rebuild. Just my 2 cents since I have pretty much the same problem.

The cart was doing the same thing but the engine was smoking before the rebuild. i'll check the compression today and report back.
sccowboy & guyboy1970 = i hate not being sure but= driven clutch on order but wont be here until next week. my results will have to wait until then.

Take off the seat and put a 2x6 over the engine compartment to sit on. Observe the proper op of the clutches while climbing the hill. As load increases and ground speed decreases, the driven should start to close and the drive should open accordingly. Also check your belt width. Should be 1 3/16".... much less and it will slip.

new drive clutch helped but still not strong like others i've driven. so i checked the ratio of drive axle.mark tire and driven clutch, spin tire and count how many time the driven clutch turns for one revolution of tire. one for tire and 6 for driven clutch... this would mean 6to1. Did i do this corectly? this explains the lack of torque!

How about the belt measurement? And here is the explanation of the clutch operation.

Oh and if torque is what you are after, look up the shorter belt thread in the tech section.

belt is new stock size. with 22'' tires and 6to1 gears(if i checked ratio correctly) this would explain why it has a lack of torque ?
