Rear Leaf Suspension Shocks help - Club Car Precendent
I recently bought this Precedent from my buddy. I added 19" tires, heavy duty rear end leaf springs & Madjax Lowprofile front end lift. I decided to take off the 4 seater and turn into a 2 seater. The heavy duty suspension make this cart ride rough to play golf. I am think about putting the old leaf springs back on. Question I have is there better shocks out there for a softer ride and do they make rear leaf springs that will lift it a little to keep the tires from rubbing in the back.
Any advice would be appreciated. Bill |

Re: Rear Leaf Suspension Shocks help - Club Car Precendent
My CC DS has the factory springs and shocks and it rides nice. I did however have a problem with the rear tires rubbing on the fender well. I removed the spring shackles and fabricated a new set that is 1 1/4" longer than the factory set, essentially giving the rear body a slight lift. No longer have rubbing issues and the ride is no different than before.

I've used longer spring shackles to bring the back of the cart up a bit.

"shocks" in golf carts aren't really shocks, they are more of a damper. You could use the stock springs and a small shackle lift. You can also trim that body on the Precedent a little. I trim them quite often with the 23" tires as with 4 people they will slightly rub in turns

Re: Rear Leaf Suspension Shocks help - Club Car Precendent
I have a similar problem with a used cart i purchased and put a 12" wheel+tire combo on - the wheel+tire combo sits at 18.625" off the ground.
Only the drivers side rubs with just a driver in the cart and only going over bumps on teh course. And with no-one in the cart, the gap between the drivers side tire and body is about 1.375" and the gap on the passenger side is 2". I've looked at the springs, dampers, bushings, etc and dont see anything obvious for the drivers side issue. Any tips on what to look for or what I should replace first? |
