Hi Sergio,

We don't use a full bridge driver, you require mechanical direction change (i.e. contactors or mechanical switch). We have not seen anybody using a full bridge driver in a series controller (they are, however, used for Permanent Magnet Motors) We have looked at the possibility of doing this but and have performed some experiements. We are not sure if the additional silicon and costs can be justified.

Scottyb, we are moving in the direction of having one Controller that works with all Series and Shunt Wound golf car motors. We have a 420/440A OEM replacement Controller and a 600A performance Controller (total of 3 SKUs).

We use an inexpensive module to connect our Controller to the golf car's wiring harness and give it the required personality. In this way someone can buy the Controller, install it on their Series car, and when they buy a new Shunt car they can move the Controller by purchasing a wiring/personality module specific to the new car.

Our On-The-Fly (OTF) Programmer (patent pending) is intended to allow the end user to customize the behaviour of the Controller in real-time (Top Speed, Acceleration, Re-gen braking). It is also required to toggle the controller from series to shunt mode.

Hopefully this is helpful.

That is an impressive project. I would be interested in getting a unit to test on the test carts here including Ezgo Series & Sepex, CC Series & Sepex.
