Charging Issues
I have a 96 DS with a recent big block upgrade. The cart was in pretty rough shape but decided to keep the original starter/generator along with the regulator. My battery wasnt being charged while running so I decided to get a new voltage regulator since it was cheaper than a generator. Still no charge so I took the plunge on a new starter/generator. I still can't get the battery to charge. Tested all of the grounds and all are good. Same thing for the other wires. I'm used to car alternators but not sure how these are tested. I used to getting at least 13.8 on cars, tested at the battery terminals, but with the cart, the battery voltage doesn't change with or without engine on.

Re: Charging Issues
With your BB upgrade is it pedal start or key start?
My best guess, and it's only a guess at this point, is that your solenoid is probably only wired to start the engine. The white wire to the starter generator needs to have continuity to the battery + the entire time the engine is running. Try reading voltage at the terminal on the starter/generator where the white wire is connected. |
