Default 92 3pg ezgo clutch came apart!

I recently rebuilt my secondary clutch. New buttons, belt new power spring. my wife was driving it up town called me apparently the snap ring came off and ground the hell out of the face of the cup and side of axle looks like its not that bad ordered new buttons.

Anyone ever have this happen? I loved the new power spring but I think it was too much I guess. I did replace the snap ring the first time I had it apart.

So I guess I'm the first?
I was hoping to get some feedback so this doesn't happen again.

I am surprised this happened. I also swapped a power spring into the driven clutch of my 3pg cart. The snap ring on my secondary was sturdy and fit really tightly in the groove. Was the snap ring groove rounded off or damaged before this happened? Is it damaged now? Did you find the snap ring?

the snap ring was still around the shaft just not clipped in (obviously lol) the snap ring fit tightly but I'm starting to lean towards it either wasn't seated properly or when I bought a new one it was the wrong size either around or maybe to thick? the groove appears to be a groove no burs that I can see.

I would guess that it just wasn't seated properly- or it was the wrong one (too big around). This time verify that it sinks down into the groove on all sides.

actually My 91 did the same thing, guy i got it from thought the rear end went bad so he gave me the cart,After getting it running again and a short test drive i found the same thing, C clip on back of secondary had come off and clutch was rubbing on transmission case.took it off and found buttons wore to nothing spring tabs broke and tips of helix chewed up. put it back together and no more noise, but clip came off a few more times, blame it on the worn buttons and spring. went to hardware store and got a new c clip, put new buttons in and a new belt and has been fine since.I still feel it up shifts to fast but dose ok for now.
