Default Re: 1988 ezgo 2pg, if fuel pump works are crank seals good?

As for a few strokes to get to 120 yes that's normal have minimal experience with these motors but on the old Yamaha g1 two strokes fuel pump would still pump bare minimum to keep motor running with bad/ worn crank seals

Default 1988 ezgo 2pg, if fuel pump works are crank seals good?

Rings, seals and bearings are pretty darn cheap. Just rebuild it and call it a day. You can hone out the cylinder as opposed to buying a new one as long as it’s not too bad. The way you’ve described it, leaves nothing else as a possibility. I would say to check your micro switch, but you say you’re getting spark. If the new spark plug won’t at least crank over with some ether, then I’d say it’s time to start pulling it apart.

Are you still using the oil pump system or are you pre-mixing? If you’ve started pre-mixing and have pulled the oil line, make sure the hole where the banjo bolt goes on top of the intake is plugged

right, I may very well end up pulling the engine and doing a rebuild, just trying to diagnose the problem, I always like to know why something wont work.

I have the gas pre-mixed that i'm using to squirt in the cylinder, but oil system is still hooked up.

The hardest part of the rebuild is getting the dang engine in and out of the cart. The only special tools that you will need is the clutch puller and the set of honing stones. Stuck bearings aren’t fun, so just hope they slide off. I just rebuilt the same engine that you are working on so feel free to pull from us.

ok, I got it running, I did the hei conversion and boom, fired right up. I was getting a spark before but it must have been to weak to start it.
need to do some more adjustments but sounds pretty good.
thanks for the help.
