Default 2000 Losing Power

Engine starts when cold and runs good. As engine gets heated, loses power and starts to backfire. Eventually stops. Exhaust is smoky and smells like raw fuel. when engine stops.
I have already replaced fuel pump, fuel filter and carb.
Ran compression test while engine was still hot and #1 cylinder 138, #2 cylinder 150.
Any ideas would be helpful.

Adjust the valves to .004 clearance.

If that was a aftermarket carb? I will bet your going to have to take it apart and clean it. Those China carbs are bad about leaving milling debris inside the carb.

Had to clean mine twice before it worked correctly!

Also the big difference in the compression would indicate valves out of adjustment.

I am having a similar issue. What do you need to run a compression test and you hook it up where the spark plugs go correct?

You just need a compression gauge, and yes it just screws into the spark plug hole.

Screw it in and turn the engine over 3 or 4 times and you have it.

Most part stores or any place that sell tools will have them.

OK finally had a chance to work on cart again. Adjusted valves and cleaned new carb and put everything back on. Runs a little better, but still has no power when it gets up to operating temp, and still backfires when you let off the throttle to let it come to a stop. Turns over good, but won't start back up until cools down. (about 10 minutes)

Run it and once it starts acting up inspect the plugs if they are wet it's an ignition issue if they are dry it's a fuel issue we can further diagnose from there
