I changed my starter generator and it cranks great now, but now I have no spark at all. I even got brave tried new plugs then grabbed that sucker and nothing. How do you test the ignition Coil?

I had spark and the cart ran great but the S/G was barely working.

With a test light or DVOM check that you have power at the coil when cranking.
Check both sides while you are there.
If you have no power at all the you have an issue with wiring , could be the fuse.
It has been 10 years since I worked on carts but the best I remember a wire would come off under the plastic cover that has the solenoid under it.

I would have to look at a wiring diagram to see for sure which one this is but I did remember it happening and making the engine not fire. Look close to see.

I can look at mine tomorrow and let you know. I might be wrong.

I narrowed it down to the ignition coil, any cheap way to get around the $80.00 price tag?

Replaced ignition coil last night, still no spark. I just dont know what I did wrong or where to start next. Can a starter gen that cranks perfectly cause a spark problem I dont knowvabout?

Make sure the engine is turning in the correct direction . Just a thought being changing the S/G is all you did.

Are the brushes seated on the Armature?

Trig 123, you were right, somehow I got the negative lead were the other wire was. It's now running in the forward position and still no spark, did I burn something up running it the wrong way?

You were right, I had the ground and the wire coming off the other side of the s/g backwards, now it's running the tight way. I still don't have spark, is it possible to fry something running it backwards?

I can't say for sure. I never had that happen. Put a test light on one side of the coil and spin it over. See if you have power.

I don't have a wiring diagram in front of me but I think ezgo ignition coil are powered from the small post on the starter solenoid .

It's been over 10 years since I worked on any golf carts but maybe my memory will come back :)
