Re: Starter engages but wont start or move
When i checked spark i seen some. But i dont know how much or how substantial it should be. So I'm thinking replace coil & if that isn't it start chasing wiring down? Any suggestions or input would be appreciated guys. Im too far into it to take it to someone now its become an honor thing.. lol

Re: Starter engages but wont start or move
Hey there house, did you ever re-check the compression after adding a bit of oil to the cylinder via the spark plug hole? If the compression jumps up after doing that, its probably the rings.
Before you started having issues how long did it take to start up cold vs. once the engine was warmed up? Sometimes when the rings start to go the engine will still start up great from cold, then once the engine warms up it takes a bit more cranking to re-start. Curious if you ever experienced something like that? |

Re: Starter engages but wont start or move
I'll recheck compression today. When it was running it ran good at first but after it was warmed up it seemed to lose power & become sluggish ...?

Re: Starter engages but wont start or move
Re checked compression. Same. Added little oil& checked & it jumped to 140psi. Checked several more times & it kept getting lower every time. I assume cuz the oil was working its way down past the worn rings ?

Re: Starter engages but wont start or move
I would assume that is correct, the oil boosts the compression until it is either blown out through the exhaust or leaks down through the rings.
I am new to Golf Carts, but the condition you describe where it would start and run great from cold, but not start great and run poorly once warmed up is a symptom of worn out rings that I have seen several times with small engines. |

Re: Starter engages but wont start or move
If its a j38 engine it needs a minimum of 142 compression
