On the right side of the diagram it lists the wires by color and where they go.
blue is a constant low voltage radio memory supply
red is the 12v positive accessory supply

Now I was told - I think by someone on here - that I should be connecting the negative to the OBC?

Not at OBC but at b- of controller on other side of OBC. This keeps the draw readings true to the OBC so your charger works correctly

No worries. There are lots of BGW sponsors who offer many options. We used to sell the one you mention but we found this one to be more reducer for the money.
