Default Building my first, 89 ez go, gas to gas conversion

Hey all.
I've got a 1989 ez go 2 seater golf cart.
The stock engine was a 2 stroke and done for and I've ordered a predator 420
A tapered shaft adapter, so I can use the stock clutches
Needing to know what type of engine mount I'll need.
Do I need to cut out the existing engine mount?
Any reccomendations?
Ps I have a few pix but cant figure how to post them from my phone

First, and I'm sure you're aware, you're going to have no reverse after the swap.

Second, I dont believe there are any existing conversion kits to put a 420 in a 2t marathon for the reason above. You'll be on your own there. I put a predator 212 in one for my kids, and basically cut off the 2 large "ears" on the front (I believe the muffler mounted to them). I cut them flush and welded in a couple 1.5" x 3/4" bars running front to back so the engine sat level and I could position it to make the clutches align. Pretty easy overall.

Third, you're going to have to have a substantial lift to fit a 420. I fit the 212 in a non-lifted cart, and it all fit fine but it was pretty close. 420 is a LOT taller, I'm guessing ypull need 4-6" of lift to fit it.

Finally, I'd highly recommend rethinking your clutching re taped shaft adapter. Cutting/drilling/tapping the crankshaft is a pain in the ***. And once you do it, you've got no choice but to use a tapered clutch. The stock clutch isnt designed to idle, so you'll have to have the predator idle REAL low or it's going to creep while it idles. Spend a few bucks on a comet 780 or cvtech clutch, save a bunch of time and hassle cutting the 420 crankshaft. And then you have options in the future. Just my .02

And FYI a Polaris rzr 800 primary clutch does fit the tapered shaft well and idle very well. A great upgrade of you do cut it and realize the OEM clutch isnt gonna cut it. Usually pretty cheap used on ebay too when guys with rzr's upgrade to others. But I've done it both ways, and for me, it's worth every penny just to buy a keyed 1" clutch. The cvtech from vegas carts works great.

Yeah that's my bad, my mind skipped straight to build cost. So far I'm at $390 including the cart, engine and a few other parts.
Any chance you could contact me directly? There is some type of pivot on top of the axle I took a picture picture of and dont know what it is or how to post a pic on here.
Also, is there a way to fix a seat without a complete re wrap?

If you click on "go advanced" below where you type the message, it will open a new window for typing. At the top theres a paper clip icon that allows tou to attach pictures.

If you still have the original motor, theres actually quite a bit of value in the parts on it that are no longer available. OEM carb is hard to find, airbox, especially the reeds. I sold the ones from mine for dirt cheap to someone on here, but I've seen the reeds on ebay for $150 or more on decent shape. Clutch, starter/generator, ignitor/voltage regulator, etc. Theres a good $500 or so on ebay in used parts if your engine is complete. That will help offset a lot of the cost of new engine, clutch, belt, etc.

The pivot thing on top.of the axle is the governor. You dont need it.

Only way to fix the seat us rewrapping it. Or duct tape lol. Vinyl is cheap at hobby lobby and holds up quite well.
