Re: where to buy shorter belt for 88 ezgo
half way through 88 the 3PG with a different length belt was introduced. If you have a 2PG with a 45 inch belt the shorter replacement is the DAYCO HP3004. If you have a different belt then you can measure it subtract an inch and look through the belts at napa online until you find the right one for you

How can you tell if you have 3PG or 2PG. I have an 88 GXT 800.

Does the muffler stand up (2PG) or lie down (3PG). Also the clutches on the 2PG are in the same axis as the rear axle, on the 3PG they run from front to rear.

I refer you to my first reply. NAPA can do this or you can type DAYCO HP 3004 into Google and see where it takes you. The shorter belt will make a big difference.

Re: where to buy shorter belt for 88 ezgo
I seem to recall reading that sleds are far harder on belts than carts are, something to do with higher revs and torque. So it would seem that a sled belt of the right dimensions would be a wise investment. After a summer of fun with the cart I am still very pleased with the HP3004.

Re: where to buy shorter belt for 88 ezgo
I used the Dayco HP 3003 on my 88 . I measured my OEM belt and it was 45 1/2" long. the 3003 is 44 7/8" in lenght. Made a big difference in my cart.
