Adapting 88-94 plastic bumper to 86 EZGO
Anyone know whats involved in adapting the 88-94.5 plastic bumper, plain, or the headlight assy to an 86 EZGO?
THe front of my 86 is bent up on the drivers side corner up front from the previous owner hitting something rather hard... I straightened it as much as possible. If I could cover it with the plastic nose, or possibly add the headlight nose kit , that would be sweet. Thanks, Scott |

I'm going to attempt this in the next few days. It looks really simple. you look under your nose im pretty sure all the mounting brackets are there you just have to trim the existing sheet metal up to them. Ill let you know.

just make sure your brackets are perfectly straight before attempting to mount the plastic - I bought a new nose for my '88 and went nuckin futz trying to get it mounted to the existing holes as the front end was ever-so-slightly tweaked, I could get it on OK but it looked terrible until I had it all aligned "just right" (and I wasn't willing to drill any holes in the new cowl cap and make it look worse, although that would have definitely sped things up)

something else. doesn't the 87 and older have flat sheet metal and the 88 and up have the slight raised section in the middle?

I have an 88. The center section is raised slightly.

Re: Adapting 88-94 plastic bumper to 86 EZGO
hey,I'm just a newby here. Other than that. I took some spray foam and made me a new nose piece. then skimmed it with bondo. Didn't work real good as the foam kept shrinking ,everytime I cut it and expost the foam underneath. But I finally got it done, but not very pretty. So I'm going to try it again next spring and make a fibre glass mould of it.

After you shape your foam, put some metal tape over it, then fiberglass it. I've seen this done and it worked well. I have never done it myself. Who knowss maybe someday!

Adapting 88-94 plastic bumper to 86 EZGO
Well I went ahead and decided to adapt the plastic bumper.
The main reason, which is still evident in one of the pics, is because a previous owner hit something really hard on the front drivers side. Sos much so the weldment was also severely bent. I figured using the plastic bumper was the easiest way to conceal/straighten out the body damage. If you look closely, you can also see the newly upholstered seats, covered in a light gray. |
