JohnnieB, cute idea, but I'm afraid it's gonna play havoc with his stereo.

And any other stereo within a 100 yard radius!

If you've never seen a rare earth magnet, they are incredibly strong. I had two that were 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 1-1/2", and ended up giving one away. It was too scary having two in the same house (with beer).
That must be what's in a hard drive. Those little buggers are awesome!

Fortunately, it is reading high, that's easy to correct. Just add resistance in series until pointer falls just below top of green.
My guess is about 5% of the ohmic value the meter measures terminal to terminal.
(Tech note for Geeks and Nerds: Yeah, I know that will change the span, but this is an expanded scale voltmeter, so it won't be much.)
Good idea John! For now I'm just going to be lazy and remember what it indicates when I get to a 70% charge so I can hook her up. I actually haven't used my cart more than a 75% charge yet. I don't do those " cross countries " like some of the guys here!
Just a thought, could I use a pot and dial in the the Green area and then just measure the resistance on the pot?

And this is only 15 kJ. JohnnyB says my buggy is packin' over 39 MJ!!!

Though the difference between energy and power is release rate, 39 MJ!!!

I know those capacitors will knock you on your butt, if you have a butt left afterwards!
They have castor oil? I had to take that nasty stuff when I was a kid! :)
How do you discharge those guys?

At 10 kV, your butt will vaporize. The low series inductance help these puppies turn high energy into some serious POWER!
