Default Yamaha G2 cutting out like it has an ignition problem

Thing just started acting up the other day. cutting out almost like its losing spark.
New components installed within last year:
carburator and joint
fuel pump
ignition coil (not the ignitor)
solenoids
fuel and air filters
starter/ generator

cart is stored in a garage and used regulary so the fuel is not contaminated. I do have plenty of fuel and no air leaks whatsoever. The spark plug is a nice golden brown. Im thinking it has to be the new aftermarket ignition coil i installed last year. Or can the ignitor cause this? I did install a igntion tester inline to diagnose and found the light to be steady at idle but then when you get into the gas pedal, the light has a miss in it which i beleive indicates a ignition issue. Below is video of my problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks alot!

Short, I don't want to start this, but before spending money, I would check wire connections. Starting with battery terminals. Grounds are important here, as the ignition runs on (open/closed ground). If you have a loose or bad ground connection, that can confuse the ignitor. Change the spark plug. Do all the cheap stuff before you change the ignitor. There is no test for the ignitor, They test everything else, if all shows good, then they replace the ignitor.

There is an 18 gauge wire that is attached to the starter ground lug. Make sure that is clean, tight, and not frayed. There is a crank trigger on the flywheel (sorry don't know what its called), check wires on that. Make sure they are not damaged or frayed, or loose connectors and such.

Any accesories on the car need to be grounded back to battery. If there are any chassie grounds, that is probably your problem.

I just don't want to be the one to tell you to drop a hundred and fifty on a CDI.

I like your style! Useing a dynamic spark tester is perfect A couple of things, Like Mike said, really check all the ground connections, expecially the lead at the negative battery cable at the starter generator. Might hook up your volt meter to the orange lead (12 volt positive) and black (12 volt negative) at the coil and push the pedal, see what readings you get. It doesn't sound like it from the vid, but take off the primary clutch cap and check for a broken weight.

If you can borrow a good working ignitor, just try that approach too. I had a problem of mine at full throttle. I replaced the ignitor and everything was solved.

i think its boiling down to ignitor. i checked all connections and everything looks good and clean as far as grounds. then i threw a volt meter on the coil like the other guy recommended. i got readings all over the place when it was cutting out. here is video of the readings. i dont know what to make of it

It looks like it to me as well, Short. But take the cover off the clutch and check the weights. Smallblock is the man on the yamaha site, and he knows what he's talking about. Always follow his lead!

Take a one side of a jumper cable, and connect one clamp to the battery post and the other end to something metal directly on the motor, and try the same test. If you still get the same erradic reading, I would guess it is the ignitor.
