Towing a car with a g22
So I just picked up a g22 Yamaha gas golf cart for towing my race car back and forth from the pits. So I was wondering should I do any clutch mods to it or is there anything I could do to the cart to make it tow better.
The car is 3400lbs |

Re: Towing a car with a g22
I was told to take 80 grit sand paper and rough the clutch up so the belt will grab better.

Re: Towing a car with a g22
Get a cut secondary sheave (the fixed sheave) or cut it yourself. That pushes the belt out the top some for a lower first gear. You can also get that HD kevlar belt it is wider and does the same thing to a point. Check the motor mounts and make sure the engine does not torque towards the trans on high load takeoffs like with pulling a trailer. You can get a spring kit, or the spring for a limo cart, but I don't think they help that much more on takeoff they do help when moving. I don't run one just modded the clutch myself. If you get into it you can machine the ramps to less angle I made a jig and did it by hand, it makes it shift down more. I only did the outer 1/3 of the ramp or so for low speeds. I pulled boats out of a lake with it and moved trailers, and it has 22" tires.
