If the cart is all stock going to good 4 gauge cables would be about as cheap an upgrade as you can do. It would not make it any faster but would possibly be a slight difference in torque to help maintain speed.

The stock marathon is slow compared to the newer carts. Unless you want to drop some dollars into upgrading motor, controller or going 48v you really will not be able to gain much more that what you already have.

Lol I'm originally from NH so I know how electrical things act when it's cold, that's why I figured that might have something to do with it

and if i were to go with a new high speed high torque motor how hard is it to switch out the controller? or if i kept the stock motor and got an upgraded controller would that do anything?

It is basically bolt on and connect the wires so it is not very hard if you are the least bit mechanically capable.

A high speed/torque motor will most likely require a new controller. A new controller will give you more torque only and not increase speed. Either of these upgrades would require new cables and possibly a new soleniod.

Here in Austin in the winter it's often 50's at night, then 80's during the day. The big jump in temperature does a number to our batteries. I always warm them up a bit during these times of years with such big jumps.
