Default Loading cart into pickup

I have a Dodge pickup (long box) that I want to haul my cart in. The tailgate is held by cables. Are these strong enough to use with ramps or do you have to remove the tailgate so the ramps rest on the bed?

Thanks

Fred

Fred, I have a GM, and so far, I just put the ramps on the tail gate, (close my eyes) and drive up! Worked so far!!

Well, didn't REALLY close my eyes!! If you want this picture larger, go to page 323 in "the G8 club".

I agree, I've loaded atv's on tailgates for years. Big and small, they all held without any failures, including on a 17 year old pickup. Go figure....

They used to rate them, but for liability reasons they stopped. But they are a lot stronger now, use heavier cable, than they used to use. I've stacked 10-15 80# bags of concrete on mine and drove around my property while running fence posts. No problem.....

I have loaded carts in the pickup like this many times, but I also saw one fail on a mini truck. (not a real truck)

I installed these because i was feared of my own tailgate cables breaking. Makes me feel better when loading and unloading. Just in case you want extra support.

I agree Medic, where those cables go into the eyelets, is where they rust and fail!
