Re: Cart wont do anything now
I have voltage to the controller and solenoid.
How do I check the switch and the control wires? |

Re: Cart wont do anything now
In your #2 post, you said the solenoid isn't clicking, so let's get it clicking before going on witch hunts about the controller and motor.
With an AXE controller, the solenoid activation circuit is completely external to the controller, so it should click whether the controller and/or motor are good or bad. Attach your voltmeter's negative test lead to the main negative terminal on battery pack. With the positive test lead, check for full battery pack voltage on the smaller of the three wires coming out of the charge receptacle. That is the infamous Reed switch and is the most likely suspect if you arced something at the key switch. If you've got B+ there, check for it at the next component in the series chain that goes to the solenoid coil. Here is a schematic with the solenoid activation circuit highlighted |

Re: Cart wont do anything now
I checked voltage of the small red wire where to connects to the FNR switch and I get 2 volts. What does this mean?

Re: Cart wont do anything now
It probably means the Reed switch is bad. (It is labeled "Interlock" on the schematic)
Wire the white wire shown in picture directly to the Positive radsok (terminal) that the red wire in the picture is now wired to. |

Johnnie I bypassed the Reed Switch and all is good now. Where do I purchase a new reed switch?

The reason for the Reed switch was to disable the cart when the battery charger is plugged into it. (A magnet in the charger plug opens Reed switch) It caused so much grief that EZGO discontinued it in later years. My 2008 has a small fuse rather than a Reed switch in the charger receptacle. If you are concerned about someone (wife - kids) driving away with the charger plugged into cart, loop the charger cord through the steering wheel. |

Re: Cart wont do anything now
Concur with the bypass. I made the mistake of replacing mine with a new one, which wasn't cheap, and it only lasted a couple of years.
If you really want the functionality, consider adding a roller style microswitch. I've looked at it, and it wouldn't be that hard, but it's pretty low on my list of mods. |
