Default G22 direct throttle cable.

Looking to bypass the governer all together. Already drilled it so it just spins on the shaft. But it's been hanging up after offloading and not closing thr throttle........ Is there a cable you can buy to just go right from pedal to carb? Or you guys just using the long cable already on th cart? If so how are you routing it???

Tried it with the stock cable and doesn't seem to be enough adjustment. The bends it has to make also make the cable bind up.

I found I had to make my own bracket for the carb then do some adjusting to get it right. It was easier to get a carb return spring for a car (such as for a holley 4bbl carb) and put it on the governor bracket to help it return as the governor used to provide some spring to it that is now gone. You need a weaker spring that has some length like a carb return spring. I hooked the spring low so it also kept the governor arm from flying off, though I never heard of that problem. You don't want a strong spring on the throttle it will wear the cable out faster.

Did you go right to the carb? I'm talking about going right from the peddle to the carb... So wont be anything able to use the governer bracket.

This isn't going to help you, but on my G8, I ran the main (long cable) from the pedal, along the driver side of my car, instead of the passenger side. On a 22, I would think it would be plenty long enough, keeping it on the passenger side.

It seems too long. It has to have a good size loop on it, but then it binds up. Wonder if there is a shorter cable that would work better

i just did exactly what you are talking about last night. I looped the cable around the front gas tank mount and then to the carb. Seems to work perfect, although there isn't much room to adjust the cable. If the cable is new or moves freely, it shouldn't bind. Mine is old but the cable moves freely and the return spring on the carb, along with the spring on the pedal close the throttle nicely.

You have a G22 also?? Maybe ill purchase a new cable, maybe it's gummed up and that's making it bind.

Yep, I have a 2003 g22. Check your pedal too. Mine was really hard to depress and didnt return properly when I got it. I cleaned it up and now it works very well. Good luck.
