Default 87 ezgo run on 12v

Hello I recently picked up an 87 electric ezgo for a physics project. The frame was all eaten up with rust but we didn't plan on using it anyway. We took the Front and rear axles out of it along with all the wiring. so now we have a rolling chassis and its time to wire it all up. Since I cant afford $800 worth of batteries is there a way to run this thing off of only 12v also is there a very descriptive wiring diagram for this thing. Almost all of the wiring is there but not sure if its wired right. Thx for any help

Back when I did masonry, I used to take my lunch break sitting in a wheel barrow with the handles on the ground, but opposite from the way you have yours mounted. It's quite comfortable and you can even take a nap, but I'm not sure which orientation would be better for sitting up.

Theoretically it is possible to run it on 12V, but it won't move very fast or very far. Especially if a car battery is used instead of a deep-cycle battery.

Here is a schematic for it in its original configuration.

Will the solenoid activate on 12 volts?

If the solenoid needs more than 12 volts, I suspect the amp draw is low enough to do some rewiring and power it from some 6 volt lantern batteries.

You might find a 12 volt solenoid, but it would need to be rated to pass the amps to the motor.

Well I got two more batteries today and figured out that the solenoid is not working. So I skipped the solenoid and went straight to the speed controller and the car works perfectly. Its actually pretty fast but it constantly sparks. The connections arent tight so that might be the problem or is it due to not having the solenoid? Where can i get one of these solenoids
