1997 ezgo txt series electric cart not running
Just bought a 97 ezgo txt electric cart. Im new to how golf carts work but im pretty tech savvy. Here's what I know.
1. When I press the gas pedal, the solenoid doesn't click 2. If I jump a wire from + battery post to small post on solenoid with two red wires, the solenoid clicks and I can press the pedal and cart works. Head scratcher for me but probably something simple since this system is so basic Thanks |

Could be the key switch, the micro switch in the pedal box, a wire connection, etc. It is probably something simple. Get your voltmeter out and check some voltages.

Is the forward/ reverse selector on the dash or by your leg? once we know th drive system we can get you to the right wiring diagram.

Look back at my post from last week. I had the same problem and JohnnieB talked me thru it. Mine was the reed switch in the charging port.

the fact that the solenoid doesn't "CLICK" means the problem is in the activation circuit. attached below is the diagram with the circuit highlited.

Found it with the diagram. Had a bad connection at the charging port. You guys are awesome. Now I just need some new batteries. Does the stuff on EBay really work to rejuvenate bad batteries. I tried Epsom salt trick but it seemed to only work on 2 out of 6.

Does it have a back up buzzer??? If it does and it works, then it's not the reed switch.

A lot of problems with golf carts are simple, the rest are sometimes simply awful.
