341 cam shaft came apart help
I have an old 341 club car 1991 model. The cam shaft broke the outer plate and rivets. not sure what happened. The gear is good and the lobes look great. I was thinking about making a plate and bolt it back together. Has anybody done this. It seems like it would work fine but not sure. Thanks I uploaded a pic of a new one and mine

Re: 341 cam shaft came apart help
Yes you can do it. Here's a pic of a camshaft in one of my motors where someone did this, they didn't even use a plate, just new bolts. Full disclosure: the motor that the camshaft (the one on the right) came out of was blown, but it had nothing to do with the camshaft modification. It threw the connecting rod.
Go for it, a new KF82 camshaft is like $300 last time I checked... Be sure to use Loctite and Nyloc nuts on the new bolts. |
