yamaha serial numbers
got a question on some yamahas I just bought. tag on them says 2000 on the rear body. inside the drivers glovebox is a jn6 which also tells me a 2000 but then they all have a jn3 on the motors serial number which isn't matching the 2000 year. any idea whats correct. I bought 4 of them and they are all the same, jn6 tags, jn3 on the motors. just trying to pin point it. thanks

Jn3 designates a G14. Since the bodies are interchangable from G14 thru G22, sounds like they just had the bodiy panels changed out in 2000. The actual serial# plaque for a G14 is just forward of the battery. It will start JN3-******

That's a number on the engine. The actual serial number on drivers side glovebox denotes it being a 2001

My 1996 G14 serial number started with JN3 but the number on my block has JN5 which it is suppose to .
