Default regen braking ???

I have a 2000 (?) TXT PDS system that has no regen braking. It runs so good that it takes awhile to stop it. It has a Curtis controller # 73326G02. Does this controller have regen brake option and if so how do I turn it on? Thanks

since you have a PDS, and seeing as how you stated that it takes awhile to stop, it most surely have a FREEDOM "chip" (plug) installed, thus no regen braking. but of course that sets it up with a higher top speed. OR you have no plug installed at all, which has no regen braking either. How fast is your cart? here is a picture of the plugs, and where they are on the controller.

Here is the KICKER with Speed Plugs. You want Regen or more Regen, you have to give up speed.

Which do you want? Speed or Regen Brakes?

You cannot have both.

That is true with a stock PDS controller (Curtis 1206MX), but is not true with an Alltrax DCX400 (or larger) aftermarket controller.

There is also a gain in speed and a gain in torque with a DCXxxx controller.

In addition, the intensity or the regen braking is user programmable.

Your mechanical brakes may need to be adjusted.

Just drive cart at a comfortable cruising speed and fully apply brakes, but release brakes before cart stops. (IE: 1 or 2 MPH)
You may have to repeat this process several times, but you ought to be able to lock the rear wheels when you push the pedal hard enough.

However, the cart is 14 years old, so the automatic adjusters may be rusted and not working, so the mechanical brake system may need an overhaul.

Yes he has a factory controller, so the statement is true, but I don't believe it should be presented as an absolute, since other options exist.
