Default Marathon GX444 first cart, should I keep it?

I just picked up a 93 Marathon Gx444 for 300.00. My buddy says he had one and to check the exhaust port for carbon build up as it could bend a valve. outside of that he loved it!! should I build it or flip it for a newer cart? I may keep it just to join the old school Marathon club

does it have the 3PG single-cylinder 2-stroke or the 2-cylinder 295cc 4-stroke? 1993 was a changeover year so it could be either - that will help us give You a little more accurate and specific info on the cart You have

I have the same year cart. It is a perfect candidate for a big-block conversion. I paid $350 for mine and it had to be loaded on my truck with a fork lift. Bent frame and no front suspension. The transaxle alone is worth $300. Many guys on here looking for that transaxle.

as long as it's running good, not smoking, etc then You sir, have scored. For a few hundred more, You can have that thing lifted and on some nice tires, and as to flipping it for a newer cart, the drivetrain in yours is basically the same as all standard carts up until 2001 so if You don't mind the metal body, why bother? That 295 is a smooth, relatively powerful and well-behaved engine with many available upgrades - and while the resale on the Marathons is very low, at $300 You've left yourself a ton of room to go crazy and still ensure that you'll get your money back out of it when and if You sell

Thanks for the info guys!!! I see a build in my future!!! I think the metal body is where it's at It's a cadillac baby. I'm thinking 5" of lift and some 22' old school knobys. I'm talking 82 honda Big Red style.
