82 G1 gas exhaust butterfly and carb question
I have an 82 g1j[17 gas cart] that is being worked on. Should there be a cable from the butterfly in the exhaust to the carb or elsewhere? Any part number? Also. is the carb interchangeable with the other g1's? Thanks for any anyput.

Re: 82 G1 gas exhaust butterfly and carb question
there should be linkage from the carb that goes in front of the fan shroud then to the butterfly. If your linkage is missing just remove the butterfly plate or assembly and weld up the hole. Or just zip tie it open.
Any G1 carb will bolt up but the j17 did have different jetting. If the shafts in your carb are sloppy then you can buy an aftermarket carb and use your jets. Or you can try to fix your shaft issues. Just beware the after market carbs have their issues. like 1 out 3 might be worthy of using. That's why you can buy one for $20 Last edited by mikeasis; 09-08-2018 at 09:52 AM.. Re: 82 G1 gas exhaust butterfly and carb question
Thanks for the feedback. I use to have a link to the original Yamaha cart parts with the schematics and all part numbers but can't find it for anything. Any suggestions?

I go to tntgolfcarts.com/yamahaparts when I need a part number. They have the exploded view with number labels to show you the oem part number.

Re: 82 G1 gas exhaust butterfly and carb question
I used www.tntgolfcar.com It has the schematics. From what I'm seeing, the 82 doesn't have a butterfly in the exhaust. The local dealer told me that also. All other years of G1's do. I don't know if someone put this incorrect year exhaust on it or not, seems that way.
