Re: yamaha G2 alternator question
The gen is pretty easy to work on usually the brushes go out, also check the bearings try to get some grease into them if you can. Mark the end with brushes before you take it apart like any electric motor but they are usually keyed to only go together one way.
G2/9 pretty common to have issues with cables and clamps bad connections it could also be that or a really weak battery. |

Re: yamaha G2 alternator question
It can be normal for gas to come out carb with nothing on it. But it should turn over constantly. I would check the voltage coming out of the start solenoid, my best guess is the solenoid or brushes. Usually they get slow with bad brushes, solenoids usually quit or don't want to work until you try a couple times.

I'll try another solenoid, i did open up the starter generator and all but 1 was good and one was a hair shorter than the others
