88 ez model 88m14 backfires
I am trying to fix my daughter's cart initially due to a severe lack of power. I put in a new plug then discovered that the carb intake was filthy with dirt. I cleaned it all out and I pulled out the carb, cleaned it then put it back in. It runs good for about 10 seconds then starts backfiring.........bad! It did not do that previously. I think I got mixed up on the cable hook up to the carb i.e. I have one cable not hooked up. It is the one which goes around to the rear of the engine to an arm which is pushed by the clutch. Am I right in assuming that this is the governor? Would this cause the backfiring if not hooked up or do I need to get back into the carb again? Second question: What is the purpose of the cable which goes to the front of the engine near what I assume is the air intake to cool the engine? Question 3: Does anyone have a drawing of the proper carb hook up for these or perhaps a parts diagram? Thanks to you all! Jim
