Mike,
I have an 01 CC and it ran 14.9 mph. I installed the performance exhaust kit, had the drive and driven clutches machined, and the 200 rpm spring added. Got it all from Tom at cart parts plus. I also added the 8:1 gears and the cart now runs 25mph on stock tires. Plenty of torque off the line and climbs up to top speed with no problem, and that's without messing with the gov. I have some 23" tires coming on a set of 12" wheels. When I get them on the cart I will let you know how it performs. Cart has a six inch lift, but I don't think that matters when it comes to torque and speed.

I got about more out of my 98 CC than that. It got about 25 on 22" tires and HD spring. I had my govenor arm extended all the way and no rev limiter, just a tach. Keep it under 3800-4200 rpms. It cuts off at 3800 now with rev limiter.

I'm getting about 20mph out of my 95cc at about 3900 rpm Gov unhooked, tac, 18 inch tires, got a power spring on clutch for torch, and a limited slip rear end. I still won't go to bigger tires until I can go big block, I need the torch more than looks or speed. Power spring was the best bang for the buck, of course that wont help your speed issue.

I'm glad to see that the power spring actually worked for someone cause mine sure didn't. Now it wont shift down lower like it used too and torque is non existant.

Thanks for giving some info, Rio. I also have a "new to me" 2000 CC gas. Mine is the 350cc so I have big hopes for it. But situation now is big 23" tires and stock/stock motor and drive. Cart cannot spin the tires and that is just not good enough for me. So I am watching with much interest.

ake01, have you read all the stickies NO NO wrote for the CC Gas section.
I would start there, doing all the little things that add up.... Keep us posted.

Scottyb,
I read what NO NO wrote in the stickies, and I have done everything except milling the head and the timing key. I just installed a tach and in maintenance mode I'm getting close to 4700 rpm. The problem is when I drive the cart I am only getting around 3500 rpm out of the motor. Is this much power loss normal or should I be getting closer to the 4700 rpm? I know where the "rpm danger zone" is and want to stay below it. Just seems like I shouldn't be losing that much power. Still going 25mph on the stock tires and wheels, and if i'm not happy with the power/speed I get when I install the new wheel pkg I will have to step it up to the v-twin.

I don't like the sounds of that. A loss of 25% rpms just because your wheels are on the ground? Seems like if you don't have a throttle problem then something else is going on....Seems rpm should be the same...ANd with bigger tires? There are going to be losses. So don't even buy bigger tires till you can figure how to keep your Rpms up.

What rpm gauge do you have?
