Also, a Yamaha has no oiling at idle.

Just thinking, maybe a worn belt may idle, but my car moves the minute the starter turns. And my belt is showing signs of wear. There is really nothing to gain, idleing a Yamaha.

And are you aware, there is a neutral between forward and reverse at the shifter?

well your prob right about the belt and it may be why i can idle this cart. When whoever did the motor replacement I feel mounted it a little forward, reason i say it is the old motor mounted to the frame brackets and the new motor mounts to a plate so when they did the retro used the holes one the one side but had to drill holes in the plate to mount the motor and i feel its about 3/4 to 1 inch forward, therefore using a sstock belt did not work and the closest they could get was a easygo belt which is 1/8" skinnier and 1 3/4 longer. the belt works but it will slip going up a hill. its kinda loose but to try a 1 3/4" shorter and thicker belt i feel it wont get on there. There is a yami belt suggested that me be a little better its the jw1-g6241-10. To try to change everything is not really a option, this guy has stuff welded in place etc. its really not great...heheh it works but surly not good. I didnt know there was a neutral but i will def take a check.

Someone just gave me a real old electric cart. I posted over on the Club Car board but there not as friendly aas us Yami guys. Its a 1973 Caroche, electric, the body and frame and stuff is good but wow the guts are real bad. I dont even know where to begin or if i even want to.

I can get a center to center (shaft) measurement in about an hour, if you like.

I think getting that back to stock, will be your best trouble free course to a good running car.

if its no bother give me a center to center id like to see if my thinking is right. i got to get batteries for my camera because i think the primary clutch might be a aftermarket to because from all the pic the yami clutch looks to be a smooth cover on the outside and the outside cover on this one is star indented looking.

As well as I can measure quickly, 10 and a half inches

I'd say that is within a sixteenth inch. (I'm a cabinet maker, so I "guess" pretty good!!)

Its 10 inches from the back of the prim clutch shaft to the center of the secondary clutch, (easier to measure that way.)

Does your cars lung right as the pedal is pressed or does your clutches give the motor a chance to start then engage. I had someone change the belt and now she lunges prob 2 or 3 feet being pulled by the starter generator before the main engine starts, Seems like a lot of pull for the starter. I am wondering if the belt is to tight or the cluch isnt working right or thats normal. Maybe as the belt wares some it will start first? My g1 motor starts before the clutch engages but thats a older belt. thanks

When I had the stock engine, even with a new stock belt the car would start and idle just barely. Any gas at all and it moved. When I switched to the CCP double cogged belt, the car would move as soon as you touched the gas. It rode higher in the secondary.
